Default 2/17/10 Listening Thread

So, it looks like we will be having writer/actor/director/producer Tommy Wiseau call into our show today for an interview. If you are unaware who the God among men Tommy Wiseau is, please read this material:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommy_Wiseau
http://www.theroommovie.com/
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1382072/

Here are the questions we sent him in advance:
1. General introduction. (where are you from, how did you get into film, what are you currently working on)
2. Did you intend "The Room" to be a dark comedy from the beginning, or did you decide to call it a dark comedy after the film was done?
3. "The Room" reportedly cost $6Million, how much did it earn?
4. how did you get your movie funded?
5. Do you embrace or hate the fact that your movie "the Room" is loved because it is Quote "So bad its good"?
6. How long did you start physically training for your role in "The Room"?
7. What is your advice for young/starting out film makers?

Default The Best Call Ever

So, Tommy called.

Despite two unfortunate dropped calls, I believe this was our most successful interview to date. We learned so much about Tommy - what his inspiration is (himself), that his movie is IN FACT a movie, and if the NFL called him up tomorrow to offer him a position, he would take it.

Tommy was noble enough to not name drop when talking about himself in comparison to other directors, and did not want to hurt feelings when we asked if there was an actor who he would prefer to work with.

And he gave fantastic, and very logical advice to young film makers: to take work in chunks of 20% at a time until you reach your 100%.

Thank you sir! I believe my favorite quote was "I would join the NFL if they called me."
